Rockstar Universe To Donate ‘X’ Ad Revenue To ‘Special Effect’ Charity
We’re pleased to announce today that we have decided to donate all of our future ad-revenue generated from Twitter/X impressions to UK-based charity, Special Effect.
This amazing charity help to transform the lives of people with physical challenges all around the world through the innovation use of technology. At the heart of this charity, is amazing work in order to optimise inclusion, enjoyment and quality of life by helping people control video games to the best of their abilities for as long as possible. Special Effect use some of the most advanced and incredible pieces of technology to bring communication, independence and hope for people in intensive care units with a severe injury or illness, or by using telepresent robots to reconnect medically isolated children with their education and friends.
Special Effect are a charity which we’ve had the pleasure of dealing with at numerous gaming events, but also holds a special place in our Rockstar Community. Our friend, Josh, managed to raise a whopping £6,100 earlier this year following his charity live stream, and so we’re pleased to also be supporting this charity too.
We’re aware there has been a lot of controversy in the community, that ‘blue ticks’ pay for people’s rent, that people clickbait and impression-farm. We want to make it clear, we don’t post for attention or for impressions (the ad-revenue isn’t a lot), but we don’t do it for money. We do this free, voluntarily, by choice, because we’re fans and we have a passion for gaming. This is our way to show that, and to help a fantastic organisation and hopefully make a difference to someone’s life.
